SATURDAY CRITTERS - USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH Arrives in the Solent Off Portsmouth

I am on the Isle of Wight at present and in the first image I am sure you are wondering why I am showing you it but I wanted you to see that I was photographing it about 2-3  miles away.
Now can anyone see an aircraft carrier in this shot below.

This $6.2billion Nimitz-class super carrier is a tad under 1,100ft (333m) long the Nimitz-class American aircraft carrier is too big to enter Portsmouth Harbour and therefore is currently moored off Stokes Bay in the Solent.

OK  I managed to get it a bit closer on the zoom and there is a video at the end showing the planes on board.

USS George H.W Bush was completed in 2009 and last visited this area in May 2012 and at that time had a lady Captain.  She is named after the 41st President of the United States and former Director of Central Intelligence George H. W. Bush, who was a naval aviator during World War II.

The ship’s company is of over 5,000 sailors. The ship, known as "Bush", has been taking part in the multi-national Exercise Saxon Warrior in the Western Approaches with the Royal Navy and other Nato forces.

These are a couple of stills of the horses beginning to gallop along the beach but you will see more of the horses in the video below.

These images were all photographed when my daughter and I we stopped at a cafe on the sea front to have coffee and DELICIOUS scones.

CLICK HERE if the video does not appear below.

I am linking it to Saturday Critters.

I know the photos are not great however I thought you might like to see this marvellous aircraft carrier as I am on holidays on the Isle of Wight.

FRIDAY'S HUNT and WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

This week for Friday’s Hunt and Weekend Reflections, the letter is D, your favourite and my choice.  I start with my FAVOURITE and really it is my CHOICE as well and that are the 2 shots below.  However why I like  the shots so much of this beautiful young lady, srniling while, standing in front of DAFFODILS, (who is someone's DAUGHTER) in a pretty DRESS, is because it was raining and she had an umbrella up but on seeing me taking her photograph, she lowered it so I could take the image.
Isn’t she very pretty?

For the letter D I am showing you DOGS.  Firstly the DOG statue was at the Zoo.  It was life size.

They say, ‘Let sleeping DOGS lie’ and certainly that would be good advice about these Wild DOGS at the Zoo.

Recently I was waiting for my bird group to arrive at Ballyholme beach and was photographing the DOGS with their owners and these are most of the ones I saw in 10 minutes.

That DOG has 8 legs!!!  Oops it is my REFLECTION image and there is another one in the electric car’s windows below.

I finish with this electric DRIVE car.
A lot of Taxi's in Amsterdam were Electric.  We travelled in one from the Airport and it was so quiet.  I think this is the way forward. My son in law has just brought an electric motorcar.

GOOD FENCES - Mount Stewart Lake

Today I am linking with GOOD FENCES and although there is not much of a fence here with these ducklings below, I thought I would show you the female Swan with her three cygnets who were in the lake at Mount Stewart House and Gardens near Newtownards.  The lake certainly had me 'fenced' in!

On the other side of the lake I found the male Swan sleeping on the old nest having a well-earned rest.

Many thanks for your visit and also your comments.

I walked round the beautiful lake and these are the flowers
I saw and photographed.

I hope these flowers brought you pleasure.
