Fungi Findings

A few weeks ago our Nature group went for a walk in Crawfordsburn Country Park which is about 2 miles from my home , to look for Fungi.  Altough we found some, our leader, Brian Gibson said it had not been cold enough to bring the masses of fungi out that are usually there.  I took photos so that you would have an idea of what the Park is like and I do not know the names of the Fungi so I suggest you get you cuppa, sit back, put the photos into slide mode and enjoy.   At the end I made a video of the waterfall.

When we finished our walk, we went into the Crawfrodsbirn Centre to get some refreshments.

I hope you enjoyed this beautiful park, which incidently leads down to the sea and a lovely beach.

  1. nice to share outings with like-mindeds Margaret and lovely location. I couldn't get over how fast the water falling; you had quite some downpours to instigate that lot obviously. At the slower end by the little wooden bridge at the end I could imagine Ratty and Moley coasting along...

    1. Hi Stewart It was damp that day but it had not been cold enough to bring out most of the mushrooms. It should have been great usually at this time of year but of course we have had warmer weather than normal, even still. Thanks for comment.

  4. That is an impressive waterfall.
A good selection of fungi. The wet, warm weather has not produced a great crop this year but there are still species that have done well, Parasols and puff balls I've had a few meals from.

  21. If you’re in doubt of any unpleasant growth in your house, you should simply assume there is a problem whenever you see mold or smell mold odors. Testing should never take the place of visual inspection (which is recommended) and it should never use up resources that are needed to correct moisture problems and remove visible growth.
People used to think that molds were harmless but it isn’t. The fact is, some molds produce a toxin called aflatoxin (toxic and among the most carcinogenic substances known) that causes illness and death in people.
Sometimes, mold growth is hidden and difficult or hard to locate and find. In such cases, carefully conducted sampling and visual inspection may help determine the location of contamination. However, mold testing is rarely useful for trying to answer questions or inquiries about health concerns. For more information, see mold testing services
